Power to the holidays!

UPDATES! UPDATES! RED HOT UPDATES!

We just got our wedding photos selected a few hours ago. The un-touched up photos look pretty decent on its own. Can’t wait to share it with you guys! We’ll uploaded once they are done… Promised! No procrastination alright…

The holiday season had done us great. In the past 3 days, we did more work on the wedding than we did in the past 3 months! Woohoo! But there’s still quite a fair bit to be done. *Enters panicky mode and hyperventilate*

We are still undecided on the band to play at the wedding lunch reception. Commonly, the wedding couple would probably engage a Jazz band for the occasion. But Jordi and I will probably opt for a band who could give us some Def Leppards or Firehouse. And most importantly, a band that could skillfully deliver our very UNIQUE choice of march-in number. Curious? I will not let the cat out of the bag for now. OK… Maybe 1 big clue. If you’re an ardent soccer fan, we should know the tune (I hope I’m not giving it away).

Anyways, while researching for the invitation copy,  I stumbled upon this:

I will leave you with that! Have a good one this new year! Happy 2009.

XOXO,

Candice

While Jordan was away…

Jordan left for the Orient with his family late last week. While they were away, this little menace was placed under the wings of my care.

Meet the darling of the Ang family… Mr Waffles!

He is rather adorable really. Except for times he mistaken my limbs for his teething toys. Oh oh… And the times he almost destroyed the Christmas tree by attempting to scale it… And how he tried to challenge the “nine-lives” myth by pearching itself on the window stills of a 11th storey apartment… And caught lapping water from the toilet bowl…*Yapping away*

OK! Candice… STOP… Stop…

Erhmm *regaining composure*… Back to our wedding updates.

Actually, due to our hectic schedules (Yes, the both of us are slaves to our jobs), we haven’t been doing much planning on our big day. We have filed our “notice of marriage” with ROM not too long ago and it is an indication that have less than 3 months to go! I got all panicky when I looked at our (un)checked list. My first thought was to leave my current job so that I can be devoted to the planning of our wedding. But the daily news on retrenchment everywhere slapped me back into reality. Gah! So no rash move for now.

Since my man is away, I had attended my trial make-up and fitting all by my lonesome self. Check the pix out:

Well, well, well… Do you recognise her? I have feedback asking me who that was. If you haven’t already guessed, it’s me lah. After the make up was done, I thought I had an out-of-body experience. My soul probably walked into a tranny’s body. Haha.. The previous statement wasn’t serious.  It’s not that bad. It just that I (and probably everyone who knows me) am not used to seeing myself in such heavy make-up.

Next up: Fitting the gowns for photo shoot

Jordan is particularly fond of this green gown. I wonder why.

Oooo.. This is my favourite! :)

Our photo shoot will take place next Tuesday on 9th Dec. I hope it will be fun! The bride-to-be will have to nurse her heavily laden eye bags for now. Till the next time, take care and god bless!

XOXO,

Candice

Dressed to the 4.5 (which is half-way to nines)

Saturday, 11th Oct

I started my day damn bright and early. By my standards, 6am is considered unearthly late rather than early, since it’s still dark and almost everyone is still wandering in lala land. But I got up anyway to help dear Lindt, and her mom (commonly known in wedding forums as “Mrs Teo, the florist located at Bedok Blk 85 market”) with the decoration for a Catholic wedding mass at Holy Family Church. We got to the church right after the early morning mass ended at 7.30am. After unloading the stuff off the van, we get down and dirty to work immediately.

The church was pretty bare and the low ceiling blocks the view of that beautiful stain glass window right behind the altar.

Here was what I have done. Simply secure the flowers with ribbons onto the side of the pews.

Lindt and her mom went about to drape the chairs with flowers.

More of where that came from…

Once everything was settled and done, I can feel those hunger pangs kicked in. I vaguely recalled Cheryl telling me about this quaint little confectionery just beside the church. Ah… Chin Mee Chin’s the name!

Cheryl mentioned that her hubby loves the way each cupcake tasted like “motherly love”. I just want to know what he meant. Curious, I bought 2 cupcakes to try. It was 9.30am in the morning and the shop was bustling with endless stream of customers. I would probably stick out like a sore thumb sitting alone in the kopitiam, so I stood by the roadside and gobbled up a chocolate-nutty cupcake. Mmmmm… Not exactly the best cupcake I have tasted. But definitely tasted like how mom would make it. I save the full chocolate one for later.

Jordi got a tailor to custom-make his wedding suit. Deciding on the cut and design on the suit was quite a challenge, since the design and colour would have to something to suit his physique. We took some effort in translating the visuals of handsome suits on hunky models to that of Jordan’s “fuller” figure. As much as Jordan would like to be my prince charming in white shinning tuxedo on our wedding day, we recognised that it would really be better to go with a conservative black 3 piece suit instead. Here’s the first round of fitting in the half-done suit.

It’s not that Jordan has bad sense in colour combination. He was wearing his favourite Liverpool polo-tee and had to put on that make-shift tie. Feels like christmas already?

I feel that the suit isn’t half bad. It might be hard to judge since it’s only half done.

We have alot more to say in our next post. Jordi and I have just experienced a weekend at the Catholic Engaged Encounter program. It was so nourishing to our relationship, we’re having withdrawal symptoms now. More updates coming your way soon!

Till then,
XOXO

Wedding gowns and… all that Jazz

I know the place where I got my bridal service package doesn’t have a website. So I am tagging this article to that bridal shop. By the way, we got our BS package from this small little shop called Jazz Bridal along Liang Seah Street. All along, I was quite impressed with their service, gowns (I have only seen a few before I sign the package) and photography. I even tracked down and gotten good feedbacks from past customers on their quality of service. Perhaps I was not served by the same girl who serviced me earlier that day (maybe because she’s not the one earning the commission from my package but was forced to serve), Jord, me, Selvi and Cheryl got to put up with her grouchy front.

First of all, she did not help us with the gown selection. She asked me what kind of gowns I prefer, so I pointed out a few from the bridal magazines. But she went in her JB-accented mandarin “We don’t have this kind of designs one. All we have are already displayed on this rack.” So me and the girls feverishly went through the rack and start picking the best of the lot. Then Jordan tried in his best attempt to ask her if there are any special kind of suit for the grooms. And her reply was “Men’s wear… very standard one what.” Then she gestured to a small rack at the side. Pathetic I would say.

Photography better be their saving grace man….

Here are a few of the gowns I tried. I’m not going to indicate which gown I chose eventually, though the choice is pretty obvious:

1st Pick:

Jordi 023

2nd Pick:
Jordi 031

3rd Pick:
Jordi 016
Jordi 027

4th Pick:
Jordi 010

5th Pick:
Jordi 032

There you go.. The best of the lot. Don’t get me started on the evening gowns… I’ll leave it till the next post. Till then…

XOXO,
Candice

We’re getting hitched!

Jordi and I would like to give a big shout-out to all! We sure hope you guys are as excited as we are. :D

The date has been set! Our big day is set to be 28th Feb 2009. Time is running short and we have tons to do.

Earlier last Friday evening, we did a quick run-through on the check list included in the Bridal magazine. You do get anxious just looking at the “unchecked” boxes.

But to get one thing off the list, we got our wedding lunch venue fixed! Later today, we will be heading down to Hotel Intercontinental to sign the contract! The ballroom is so beautiful and grand, with a tint of colonial style. Will let the pictures do the talking in my next post.

Gonna sign off here!

XOXO,

Candice
